| Sports Grant Presentation The re-scheduled presentation of the annual sports club grant scheme took place last Tuesday 1st February in the Westenra Arms Hotel at 7.30pm. 40 sports clubs were awarded funding under the annual sports club grant scheme along with 5 County Committees for sport. 2011 Newsletter Monaghan Sports Partnership has just released a newsletter outlining a number of its activities over the past year and also highlighting a full and varied schedule of training / education courses taking place over the next few months. The newsletter will be available to download online from our website from 7th February or can be sent out in hard copy from our office upon request – just give us a call on the number below.
2011 Sports Partnership Committee The Sports Partnership is currently reviewing its membership and will be writing out to all representative groups for nominations for the board for the term of 2011-2013. Sports Clubs should expect to receive these nomination forms and all relevant information in the next week and are asked to consider nominating people whose contribution to the development of sport and physical activity would benefit the Sports Partnership. The committee meets approximately 6–8 times per year to oversee the work of the organisation and is keen to bring people onboard who will actively work towards increasing participation in County Monaghan across all sports and all recreational pursuits which encourage people to become, and stay, more active in their lives.
Ten Pin Bowling Monaghan Sports Partnership is currently running Ten Pin Bowling sessions for Over 55s in GR8 Entertainment venue on the Monaghan Road in Castleblayney on Tuesday mornings at 11.00am. If you would like to come along and try out ten pin bowling for a lively social and activity outlet, then please contact us and speak to Eilish to register your name on 042-9755126.
Sports First Aid Training Course –Sat. 19th & Sat. 26th February Monaghan Sports Partnership is hosting a series of training courses for sports club volunteers – dates of these courses will be published by 1st February on our website www.monaghansports.ie and available through our newsletter. But please note above dates for First Aid course – this course has been very well received in the past and give participants knowledge of all basic first aid techniques and examines common injuries associated with sport and the treatment of same. The course will take place at Ballybay GAA complex over two days and cost €80 per person. We are eager to fill all courses as we will not be repeating this training again in 2011 unless there is sufficient interest. In the past three years, Monaghan Sports Partnership has provided;
