| Annual golf classic to take place on August 27th
August 2010 – The 2010 Open Championship may be over but there is a solution for all your golf fans. The former Irish goalkeeper Packie Bonner met with Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland members, seven year olds, John Thomas Campbell and Brooklyn Kerley to launch the annual Packie Bonner SBHI (Spina Bifida Hydrocephalous Ireland) Golf Classic will take place at Palmerstown House Estate, at Johnstown, County Kildare on Friday, 27th of August.
The Irish sporting legend is calling on golfers from Castleblayney Golf Club, Clones Golf Club, Mannan Castle Golf Club, Nuremore Hotel and Golf Club and Rossmore Golf Club to support Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland at this fantastic sporting event.
All proceeds will go to SBHI in order to continue their work in assisting those with the conditions spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. The entry fee is €500 per team (four person team). Shotgun start at 12noon sharp (Refreshments at 11am). Speaking about the exciting annual fundraiser Packie said, “This is a fantastic course and a great day out for a worthy charity so I am encouraging people to get involved. Every year I take part and it amazes me to see the work carried out on behalf of SBHI for people who live with the conditions. Without a doubt it is the best of all the golf classics I have taken part in.”
There are a number of competitions on offer for participants, such as beat the pro, nearest the pin, longest drive, par three competitions, etc. Lunch and dinner at Palmerstown House Estate are included as well as, buggy hire for the day and a goody bag.
Palmerstown House Estate is an outstanding Golf Course that stretches over 7419 yards and is both challenging and fair to all levels of golfer. Breathtaking scenery covers this magnificent course which any golf enthusiast would relish playing in. Palmerstown House is located at junction 8 on the N7, county Kildare. It is easily accessible for participants residing anywhere in Ireland.
“We are delighted to have Packie Bonner involved with this crucial fundraiser for our organisation. Packie is a patron of the association and has helped us in many ways including raising awareness and participating in many events over the past number of years,” said George Kennedy, Chief Executive of SBHI.
SBHI works with people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus to improve the quality of their lives on a practical level.
