| Seniors - The seniors recorded a 2-14 to 2-11 win over Truagh in a league encounter last Wednesday night. Blayney played second fiddle in the first half and only the free-taking of Keith Hill and a goal from Ciaran Hanratty kept the deficit to two points at the interval. A much improved Blayney emerged in the second half and an early Adrian Irwin goal set the tone for the half. Further points from Marty McElroy and Ciaran Hanratty extended the lead to three before Truagh opened their second half account with a point. Hanratty and Hill then stretched the lead to four but just as it looked as if Blayney would pull clear an opportunist goal from Truagh reduced the arrears to the minimum. However Blayneys superior point taking won the day as they tagged on further scores from Hanratty(2), Patrick Tavey and Damian Hughes.
Junior B – Congratulations to the Junior B team who recently won the B Championship for the second year running with a hard fought win over Tyholland (photos from the night should be on the website sometime this week). Under 16 – It was heartbreak for the U16s last Thursday night when they were defeated by a single point by Monaghan Harps in a league semi-final clash. It was very much a case of what might have been as despite being the better team in the first half they recorded eleven wides and turned three points behind. Aided by an Aaron McNamara penalty they had drawn level with time running out only to be denied by an injury time winner for the Harps.
Do you know your GAA? – At the conclusion of the provincial championships the leaderboard is as follows: 1st – Mac Sammon, Ballybay on 90pts, Joint 2nd - Shaun Mills, Galway and Jason Stokes on 80pts and 5 people are tied in 4rd place on 75pts – Stephen McMahon, Kealan Dignam, Theresa McDonald, Aoife McTiernan and Gerry Carragher.
