| Last weekend saw a number of matches cancelled. Firstly the U-15's who were set to play Killylough in Monaghan on Saturday was called off. Then the U-18's game against Bawnboy was also cancelled. The only match that took place was the senior team who took on Carrick Rovers in Kingscourt on Saturday evening. This was the second time these two sides met, with the first meeting ending as a draw. Although blayney had a number of injury worries they were still confident going into this match. The first half saw the Academy keep alot of possession but found it very hard to beat a tight Carrick defence and a very good piece of goal keeping, it went to half time all level but the Academy were certain they could come away from this with a result. The second half again saw Blayney in control with their keeper having very little do. A number of substitutes were made on both sides with Blayney putting on a third striker, they were going for the win. Then about twenty minutes from the end midfielder Paudie Finnegan's deflected shot beat the keeper and found its way into the back of the Carrick net. Blayney kept alot of possession after the goal and saw the match out to the final whistle. It was a well earned victory for the lad's who saw the ball hit the crossbar and post on numerous occasion's. This is the their fifth clean sheet in a row which is fantastic for a team who started of the season going a goal down in every game. This weekend the Men are in a Cup match against Cavan Celtic in Cavan, having beat them two weeks ago the lad's are hoping for a repeat preformance. Get Well soon to Eamon and Ray who are recovering from injury and hope to be back in training next week.
