Blayney Academy
Last weekend the U-15's took on Drumkill, the lads stole the show with a comfortable 3-1 win, its was a great defence display and the goals came from Ethan Mc Cann and newly signed Ryan Maguire. The U-18s played Bawnboy on Sunday morning, they suffered defeat to a very strong team, a superd goal from Dan Brennan was all Blayney could take away from this match. Dan went off shortly after with a dislocated finger, Get well soon Dan. The Senior team took on bottom of the league Bailie youths on Sunday morning and with their last two games being a loss and a draw the boys were on a mission to get 3 points. The first goal came within ten minutes from Aiden Ward and around the half an hour mark Aiden again hit the back of the net, Blayney kept making chances but were'nt able to finish them, the half time score was 2-0. The second half started as the first one finished with Blayney still piling on the pressure but unable to hit the net. Kevin McManus was fouled in the box and Cathal O Flaherty took the penalty to take the lead up to 3 goals, Bailie youths faught back and from a Blayney defensive error they took a goal to make the score 3-1, The Academy wasnt finished and after a poor clearence from Bailie youths and a few well placed passes from Blayneys defence to work the ball back into midfield and create space Aiden Ward took a long range effort from just inside the half that dipped under the bar, then ten minutes from the end John McManus burst through the Bailie defence and tucked the ball into the bottom corner. The final score Blayney 5 Bailie Youths 1. The Senior team are still top of the league and have alot of work to do if they want to stay there.
