Blayney Academy
The weather again affected some games at the weekend. The U-15s were set to play Killylough in Killylough on Saturday but after the recent downpours the pitch was deemed unplayable, The Senior team played Killough for the second time this season in Gortakeegan on Sunday, an 18 man squad turned up to play this very important league game. Lenny Leonard opened the account for the Academy after a superb through ball from Aiden Ward caught the Killylough defence and lenny took the keeper across goal to tuck the ball in the far end, Killylough faught back well creating plenty of chances but it was a penalty from a hand ball in the box that braught the two teams level. Blayney kept their heads and after a few very good chances Eamon Ward drilled the ball into the back of the net with a volley ending the match 2-1. This victory means the Senior team have won every one of their league games this season and are sitting at the top of the table. You can find out results and fixtures of the Senior team on RTE Aertel page 448. The U-18s hand no match this weekend, they trained on Saturday morning.
