Further to the success of last year’s camp, Blayney Rovers are delighted to once again host the FAI Summer Soccer School.  The very popular camp takes places from July 4th to 8th, 10.30am to 3pm on Our Lady’s astro and caters for 6 to 14yr olds, boys and girls.

The An Post FAI Summer Soccer Schools are a fantastic way to make friends and improve football skills. Whether the child is a complete beginner or a more accomplished player, they will benefit from a week of high-quality coaching from FAI qualified coaches. They will make new friends, learn new skills and, above all, have a fantastic fun-filled week of football!

The camps are open to boys & girls between 6 and 14 years of all ability levels and experience and are the only official Summer Soccer Schools of the Football Association of Ireland.

On the first day of camp, all participants receive their Umbro FAI gear, football and backpack unique to An Post Summer Soccer Schools.  Last year’s participants came from the local areas such as Annyalla, Clontibret, Broomfield, Oram but also from further afield eg Monaghan, Ballybay and Northern Ireland.

The cost of the Camp is €89 if booked before June 15th. There are family discounts: €89 for first child, €10 off for second child and €20 for third child.  Booking can be made direct by visiting www.summersoccerschools.ie or by contacting the Clubs Camp Co-ordinator on 086 7841097.

There are still places available but don’t delay as June 15th is approaching fast.  Bookings can still be made after this date but at an extra cost. The club is operating an easy payment scheme for anyone that wishes to pay in instalments.

CLUB NEWS

Monaghan Development League

Our U10 had a very exciting day on Sunday last in Killylough were our 2 teams played 3 matches each against the hosts Killylough and visiting Drumlin.  Thankfully, the rain stayed away.  The club’s coaches were delighted with each player’s performance and were also very impressed with some of our newest members who made their debut for the club.

The U10 have had a busy few days as they were asked by the Castleblayney Tidy Towns group to take part in a display match in Mindszenty Park on Tuesday night as part of the group’s participation in the RTE Dirty Old Towns programme. The Club were delighted to be asked to take part in this very worthwhile community project.

Training continues for the U8’s and U10’s on Saturday evening at 6.15pm.  New members are always very welcome as are new coaches.  Club contact no is 0867841097.

Emerging Talent News

Congratulations to James Wilson, a member of our U12 squad who recently earned a place on the U12 Emerging Talent team and scored a goal in his debut match against Enniskillen.

Four club members: Ciaran Hanley, James Wilson, Tautvydas Semelevious and David Hanley, who are part of the U11, U12 and U14 Cavan Monaghan Emerging Talent Teams, were taken to the Aviva stadium on Tuesday to see Ireland play Northern Ireland.

U12 and U14

These teams are taking a well earned rest for a few weeks after doing so well in the Cavan Monaghan League.  Both teams came up against very strong competition but fought back hard.  Registration is now open for these age groups and u16’s for the coming season in September.
