SENIORS played Tyholland at home on Sunday last in the second round of the I.F.L. Tyholland started much the brighter and registered 1-1 in opening 2 minutes. Eddie Mc Ardle opened Aughnamullens account in the 4th minute from a free kick and Lauren Ward followed with a brilliant long range effort. Two more free kicks from Mc Ardle and Pete Dooney levelled the sides for the first time on 15 minutes. Tyholland then hit a purple patch between the 17th and the 20th minute and hit three unanswered points. Sean Sheridan fisted a point and a well worked move ended with Chris Keenan splitting the posts to leave the minimum between the sides. In the closing stages of the first half Tyholland registered a further three points with Sean Sheridan replying for the hosts to leave a half time score of Aughnamullen 0-7, Tyholland 1-7. The away side again opened the scoring in the second half but Aughnamullen hit back with Mc Ardle and Ward, both from frees, along with two superb points from Dooney and Lee Conlon. RESERVES extended their unbeaten run with a hard fought win over Killeevan on Saturday last in Aughnamullen. The home side started well and their first scores of the game came from Paul Mulligan and Lauren Ward, both from frees. Pauric Bannigan extended their advantage to 3 before James Keenan scored a brilliant long range point after great work by Niall Mooney. Ward kicked another free to put Aughnamullen in control but Killeevan had other ideas and hit 4 unanswered points in the final ten minutes to leave a half time score of Aughnamullen 0-5, Killeevan 0-4. The away side levelled the scores after the restart before Ward restored our advantage with another free. Aughnamullen then had keeper Seamus Courtney to "TANK" as he made a fantastic point blank save and minutes later Aughnamullen had the ball in the net when Damian Mc Connell took a quick free kick and found an unmarked James Keenan who made no mistake from six yards. Killeevan then found a way by Courtney when a high ball was fisted to the net by their full forward. The home side hit back straight away through MickEy Keenan and Eddie Mc Ardle before the away side reduced the deficit 2. Mark Mc Ardle hit a fine solo effort while Mickey Keenan and Ward again put Aughnamullen in the driving seat with Killeevan kicking a consolation point to leave a full time score of Aughnamullen 1-11, Killeevan 1-7.
