In Co. Monaghan Gardaí were investigating the death of man whose body was found in a house in Ballybay today.
The man (57) who was named locally aas Oliver Mc Entee was found with head injuries at 1.40am and pronounced dead just under two hours later at around 3.30 .
Gardaí have said they were treating the death as suspicious when the body was first discovered however after prelimenary tests were completed by the
assistant state pathologist Dr Michael Curtis they found the man died of natural causes.
The house on Main Street had been sealed off for a number oh hours today.
When they entered the house gardai were concerned that he had been subjected to a beating because of the bloodstains in the house and on his head. But they believe now that he may have stumbled around the house after suffering the heart attack. Mr McEntee, who was slightly built and suffered from multiple sclerosis, was originally from Glaslough but had lived in Ballybay for several years. He had lived alone since his wife was admitted to a nursing home. He was unemployed, but had been a member of the Defence Forces in the past. ![]() |
