Tickets are selling fast for the benefit night which has been organised in aid of the Lorraine Colleran Injury Fund.

The fund was set up in support of Monaghan woman Lorraine Colleran who suffered a serious and complete spinal injury in a horse riding accident on 12 March this year. Mum of three young children, Lorraine who is married to Jarlath works in Magill Jewellers in Monaghan town and is well known as she also designs bridal jewellery. She is presently receiving treatment at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin and is making steady progress. The Lorraine Colleran Injury Fund was set by friends of the Colleran family in order to ease the enormous expense of necessary alterations to their home.

Speaking to monaghanlife.ie, Treasurer of the fund Gerard Toal said that it was being well supported by local businesses and organisations and advised those interested in attending the benefit night to purchase their tickets soon as they are selling fast. Mr Toal added that amongst other fundraising events organised by local businesses in support of the Lorraine Colleran Injury Fund, the female staff from Magill Jewellers are gearing up to run the annual Flora Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin on Monday, 7 June in aid of the fund. A collection box is also in place in Magill Jewellers for anybody wishing to donate.

The benefit night is set to take place in Master Deery’s in Monaghan town on Friday, 11 June. Entertainment will be provided by American singer Buck Taylor and a six-piece band which will include Monaghan musician Ronnie O’Flynn and Gavin Taylor. Tickets purchased in support of the night will include access to The Kitchen nightclub in Master Deery’s and there will also be a barbeque. All proceeds from the night will go towards the fund.

A night of appreciation for all those who supported the Lorraine Colleran Injury Fund will be held in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan on Saturday, 19 June. Well known sports personalities Micheal O'Muircheartaigh and Packie Bonner amongst others will be in attendance and along with musical entertainment on the night there will also be an auction and a raffle. Entry on the night is free.
