Monaghan Lions Club Japan Appeal
Tuesday, 15 March 2011 14:12

Monaghan Lions Club is appealing for your help to get the financial support required to the people of Japan. We’ve all watched the scenes of devastation unfolding on the east side of the Japanese islands over the past few days as the worst earthquake of this century has unleashed a major Tsunami that has destroyed the lives of millions of people and created devastation in Japan not seen since World War II.

As well as a mounting death toll there is unbelievable damage to a First World country. The Lions are a major organisation in Japan with 3,200 Clubs and almost 200,000 members across the islands. The need for us to assist them is obvious and already Lions Club International has placed a significant sum at their disposal through a series of emergency grants.

This will be a week of much celebration in Ireland with St Patricks day on Thursday.  We must not forget those suffering, the threat that radiation brings and the how we can best help.

Please give us a donation for this appeal, no matter the size, Lions Club International with double the funds we receive and get the donations to the people of Japan in the best possible form to help reduce the pain and displacement as much and as soon as possible.

If you can help, please call into the AIB, The Diamond, Monaghan at your earliest convenience.  The account details you need are as follows:  Account number 21485378, sort code is 932477.  Leave your donation at reception marked “Monaghan Lions Japan Appeal”.  We’ll keep you informed of the progress.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.
