MONS ON MANAGER HUNT

Following Sundays departure from the club by former Monaghan United Manager Mick Cooke, the Mons are now on the hunt for a replacement before the 2011 season kicks off.  The border club has a widely respected reputation in the league and will be looking for an enthusiastic and highly competitive manager to lead them in their push for Premier Division football.

Monaghan United fans have high expectations for the coming season as Mick Cooke left behind him a very talented and hardworking squad who will be eager to surpass last seasons success of reaching 3rd in the First Division and the EA Sports Cup Final.  United were unlucky to lose out on promotion when they lost their play-off to Premier side Bray Wanderers in a heartbreaking fashion and it is hoped that the club will exceed the accomplishments of 2010.

It is with this ambition in sight that Uniteds Chairman Jim McGlone is undertaking a thorough search for the right manager to guide the club to greater things.  McGlone stated ⌠We will search the country and maybe further afield until we are sure that we have found the right candidate for Monaghan United.  While we have our sights set on having someone in place before the season starts, we are happy to proceed with Aidan Lynch at the helm as caretaker until the correct person is selected.

⌠We would actively encourage any of the managers out there who feel they have what it takes to achieve our ambition of winning the First Division to contact us and throw their names into the hat now as the interviewing process has begun.  As it stands we are delighted with the quantity and quality of managers who have contacted us to let us know they are interested and we hope that this is a reflection of the good standing we have in League of Ireland football.■ McGlone continued.
