‘Suck it and see’ approach to health services not acceptable

 “In a local interview in Cork on Friday morning, Enda Kenny said he has a list of hospitals which he believes must keep open,” said Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Margaret Conlon. “This worrying comment has only reinforced my fears in relation to the Fine Gael health policy. Central to their Faircare policy is the ending of the Block Grant to Monaghan General Hospital by 2014.

“In his slip on Friday, Enda Kenny has exposed the very harsh reality that may lay ahead for our local health services and this ‘suck it and see’ approach is not acceptable.

“With the ending of the Block Grant, the future of Monaghan General Hospital is now placed on the whim of Enda Kenny and his Hospital list.

“I am now calling on Enda Kenny to publish his Hospital list. I would also call on him to reverse the commitment to end the Block Grant upon which Monaghan General needs to continue providing health services,” concluded Deputy Conlon.
