| All roads will lead to Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan on June 4th 2011 when twins, triplets & quadruplets will parade through the town and attempt to smash last year’s record. The largest gathering of twins in Ireland, organised by the Carrickmacross Lions Club took place last June as part of the town’s Summer Festival Weekend. This year the Twin’s Parade is being extended to include all multiple births and is being renamed to Twin(s) + Parade . Lions Club President Michael Murphy explained that during a presentation to The Irish Multiple Births Association, he met parents of triplets who very much wanted to be included in this year’s event. Consequently, Carrickmacross Lion’s Club have decided to extend the event to include all multiple births.
The Lions Club have organised a family orientated multiple band concert on the Friday night, before Saturday’s fun packed Parade, as well as post parade entertainment for all twins and their families. Twin(s) + Pack collection and photography will take place in a family friendly venue with entertainment. Online registration is now open at www.carrickmacross.ie and the organisers expect to easily beat last year’s record of 231 sets of twins and to add triplets and quadruplets to this year’s parade. All the proceeds of the Parade will go to support local charities.
