Castle Leslie Hotel in Co Monaghan

                   

This Castle Leslie Hotel sits on 1,000 acres of unspoiled Irish Countryside of undulating Irish countryside, scattered with woodland and lakes. The castle one of very few Irish castles that remains in the hands of the founding family and over the years has welcomed politicians, poets, ambassadors and ufologists. The castle has been restored over the past 10 years but has managed to retains its original charm and character.

Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher stand 214 meters high and stretch 8 kilometres around the coast of Clare facing out into the Atlantic Ocean. They boast some of the most breathtaking views in Ireland. Following substantial renovation O’Brien’s Tower is open to the public. If you need to shelter from the wind there’s also a visitor centre and Atlantic Edge exhibition and café.

 

Ross Castle, Lough Sheelin, Co. Meath

The ghost of Sabina Nugent is said to walk the halls of Ross Castle at night time. It’s said she died of a broken heart and now roams the halls of the hotel looking for her lost lover.

The hotel itself offers activities such as angling, bird watching, cycling, golf, horse riding and sailing. You can also take a flying lesson of be flown over the beautiful scenery around the castle.

 

Powerscourt Gardens and Waterfall

Powerscourt Gardens are one of the most beautiful gardens in the country. The gardens are designed based around Italian and Greek traditions and are dotted with antique sculpture, fountains, and ironwork amidst the ancient trees. Also in the gardens is the Powerscourt Waterfall. The waterfall is the highest in the British Isles at 121meters tall. It was said to be a source of inspiration for many writers during the Romantic Era.

 

Whitefriar Street Church, Dublin

Whitefriar Church is one of the largest churches in Dublin and is home to the relics of St Valentine. The relics are kept under a marble altar in the main body of the church. The shrine contains the body of St Valentine and a small vessel tinged with his blood.
