Monaghan Community Alliance is the group  dedicated to the retention and re-development of services at Monaghan General.
It is  is seeking  the development of a Medical Assessment Unit at the hospital.

It  has issued a seven point plan for the hospital which it wants to see implemented by the next Government.

The group is asking  Monaghan voters to pressure election candidates to commit to implementing the plan, and preventing further downgrading.

Among the provisions being sought for Monaghan General Hospital is an extension of the Treatment Room functions from 8am to midnight 7 days a week and an increase in the level of treatment available in that department.
The Community Alliance wants a medical assessment unit to be developed which would initially be for limited hours but would be of great benefit to Monaghan patients and would alleviate some of the pressure on Cavan General.

As well, the group is calling for a review of emergency services in Monaghan; an increase in surgical procedures and more diagnostic resource use.

The Alliance is also suggesting that wards in Monaghan should be used as step-down facilities for patients being discharged from other hospitals, as well as Cavan.
