![]() It seems that Monaghan Town's so called "Hole in the ground" is still causing debate between members at this weeks meeting in Monaghan County Council.
It is believed that the Clarke Group wishes to fill in the unfinished development and restore the area into a car park.
They also hope to return to the site for future development when the economy improves in the future.
At the meeting local Town Councillor Seamus Treanor is calling for the Clarke group to walk away from the project and to allow the Council to take control of the area
However local Councillor Sean Conlon is saying that the Clarke group should remain responsible for returning “The Hole in the Ground’’ to its original state.
He also believes that Councillor Treanors view lacks foresight.
The Sinn Fein representative commented by saying that the vast majority of the local authority believes that the Clarke Group should restore the site back into a car park with the potential of returning to this development as the economic situation changes.
