Monaghan's 'Operation Transformation' Walk

The Monaghan Walk  -  Saturday 15th January 2011
The Monaghan 'Operation Transformation' Walk will take place along the Monaghan town Sli na Slainte route which begins at Monaghan Leisure Complex on the Clones Road.

The walk will be 2.5km in distance.  Walkers have the choice  to complete a second lap if they wish.

The walk will begin at 11.00am sharp therefore it is essential to arrive on time for registration.

The walk is free of charge. What better way to kick-start your New Year's health and fitness routine?
RTE cameras will be attending some of the sites hosting the walks so it would be a great opportunity to show off Monaghan and how healthy the Monaghan people are.

What is a Sli na Slainte Route?
Slí na Sláinte, meaning "Path to Health", is a simple innovative scheme developed by the Irish Heart Foundation to encourage people of all ages and abilities to walk for leisure and good health.

It uses attractive signage at kilometre intervals on established walking routes to help walkers identify the distance they walk.

 Slí na Sláinte is designed to encourage people to walk more frequently and to enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.

The Operation Transformation National Walk

This year  RTE’s Operation Transformation is teaming up with the Irish Sports Council to organise a number of special nationwide sporting events.

Operation Transformation is trying to encourage all to exercise  and on the 15th of January we want to see Ireland participate in the first of these, a national walk.

 There are 32 walks taking place with at least one in every county in the Republic so there's no excuse for missing out. Start times range between 10.30 am and 2 pm. 

At each  walk there will  a leader who will set the pace and show you how to get the best value out of your walk.

 The Operation Transformation leaders and experts will be out in force to walk with you and encourage the whole country to take the first step towards a healthier life.
