So far water has been disconnected in the Highfield and Foxfield areas of Carrickmacross last night as demand exceeded supply. Water supplies in the mid-Monaghan Area are at critical levels. The Kilkitt Water Treatment Plant, the largest in the county which serves Ballybay, Castleblayney and Clontibret and a substantial rural community is currently operating at capacity, producing 8,000 cubic metres of water per day compared to the normal production rate of 3,500 cubic metres per day.
The villages of Emyvale and Glaslough may suffer disruption to supplies this evening and tonight to allow reservoir levels to recover. Monaghan County Council is requesting all consumers to check their premises and farmers to check all out-farm connections and cattle drinkers to preserve supplies The Council has provided standpipes in the towns of Monaghan, Clones, Carrickmacross, Castleblayney and Ballybay for those without a water supply. Theses are located at the Fire Stations in Monaghan and Castleblayney, the Car Park on the Clones Road in Ballybay, St. Tiernach’s School, on the Roslea Road in Clones, the junction of Chapel Lane and Main Street in Carrickmacross |
