The so-called ''Monaghan Hole in the Ground'' which is situated beside the Monaghan Shopping Centre is be developed
back into 200 car parking spaces
according to Cavan and Monaghan TD Caoimhghin O' Caolain
It had been originally proposed that the developers of the project, the Clarke Group of Lisnaskea,
would build civic offices, a hotel, and other commercial amenities on the site.
However in a letter to Sinn Fein TD for Cavan/Monaghan, Caoimhghin O'Caolain - Director of the company, TJ Clarke,
says that the project has been revised
- and the site will be filled in and converted back to a carpark in the coming months.
Deputy O' Caolain has said that alot of work is needed to return its original state.
However he adds that if the economic situation improves there is a possibility of future development.
