Social Inclusion Awareness Week 2010

Monaghan Integrated Development has extended a warm invitation to the public to participate in the fourth annual Social Inclusion Week from 18 - 21 May.

The theme for this year’s Social Inclusion Awareness Week is Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion. This theme was chosen as 2010 is the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. As with other years the work that Monaghan Integrated Development and other agencies are involved in to reduce social exclusion and poverty will be highlighted.

Tuesday, 18 May
Exhibition and information stand in Clones Library

Wednesday, 19 May
Exhibition and information stand in Castleblayney Shopping Centre

Thursday, 20 May
Social Inclusion main event at the courthouse in Monaghan Town. From 11am - 2pm there will be Zorbs, a DJ, canvas painting, face painting, multicultural dancing and an art competition. More events to be confirmed!                                                                             

Friday, 21 May
Exhibition with a Questions and Answers session in Monaghan Shopping Centre and street presence in Carrickmacross.

Other events during the week include a broadcast on Northern Sound where The Breakfast Roll presenter Sean McCaffery will be challenged to get into a Zorb! There will be full page coverage in the Northern Standard of local entrepreneurs and community group initiatives that have been established recently through the continued support of Monaghan Integrated Development.
