Gardai in Castleblayney are investigating an armed robbery which took place  in the Lurganmore area last . While driving  in his car on the road between

 Newtownhamilton and Castleblayney  a man was flagged down in the Lurganmore area around eight o clock last night.

When the man stopped the car to helpthe stranded car owner  he was confronted by a person carrying a firearm who

 demanded that he hand over money.

To make matters worse the thief struck the man during the incident and he sustained minor injuries.

It's understood a small amount of cash was stolen in the raid.The armed man left the scene in a car which was parked near by and which headed in the direction of Tullynahattina.Gardai are asking anyone who travelled the Newtownhamilton to Castleblayney road between a quarter to eight and a quarter past eight last night to contact them at Catleblayney station on 042-97-40668.
