| A new multi-million euro entertainment complex in Castleblayney that will create 20 new jobs in the town opened its doors last weekend. Described as a ‘family fun complex’ the GR8 Entertainment Centre is three storeys high and extends to an impressive 20,000 square feet. Owned by local businessman Padraig Watters the Monaghan Road facility provides leisure activities for people of all ages. Formerly known as Blayney Bowl, the centre recently benefited from a massive extension and refurbishment programme representing an overall investment of approximately two million euro. The name ‘GR8’refers to the eight leisure activities on offer in the complex including ten pin bowling, an astro turf soccer pitch, safe-skill adventure climbing, a Formula One racing track, an impressive array of virtual and interactive games, private party areas and a 100-seater restaurant. The attractive and modern facility has specially and professionally designed play areas and activities to suit all ages and its ‘all-in-one’ location provides perfect entertainment for all the family. GR8 offers an extensive programme for parties and gatherings to suit all ages and tastes. From school or youth club outings to family get-togethers or fun time with grandparents, there is something for everybody. Generous discounts can be arranged for larger groups. An ideal place to host children’s parties, the comprehensive programme at GR8 can be adjusted to suit all customers and budgets as it has no less than three private party rooms. The astro turf pitch provides the perfect spot for five-a-side football tournaments while the soft play and climbing frame areas are suitable for all ages from toddlers to teenagers. The Formula One racing track is sure to be a big hit as the karts are suitable for use by both small children and adults. The carefully designed catering area offers delicious Starbucks Coffee and a wide variety of meals and light refreshments. The entire complex can house up to 300 customers at any one time and all areas are fully accessible for less able-bodied members of the public. Mayor of Castleblayney Joe Brennan has warmly welcomed the opening of the new GR8 complex and praised the jobs it will create. “I am delighted that this new facility has opened in the town. The creation of jobs is to be commended and supported and I wish everybody involved with it every success.” Castleblayney man, Dermot McArdle, is responsible for the daily running of the centre. A well-known footballer for his club and county, Mr McArdle has worked in the business for several years and knows exactly what customers want. “People will be amazed to see the transformation of the building with its modern and state-of-the-art facilities,” he said. Mr McArdle added that what is on offer at GR8 is unique in that no other complex offers the extensive range of games and leisure activities all under the one roof. “We aim to go the extra mile for our customers and look forward to catering for people of all ages.” GR8 Entertainment Centre is open seven days a week from 10am until late.
