Monaghan County Council are working at present to try and make all regional and national routes accessible for motorists.
However due to heavy snowfall yesterday evening many routes remain treacherous in the county.
A request for salt to the National Roads Authority was placed recently and the local authority hopes to receive an extra 90 tonne of salt today.
So far Monaghan County Council has used 2,200 tonnes of salt to date and have confirmed they have only 100 tonnes remaining in their reserve.
It is hoped that when this delivery arrives Monaghan County Council will have adequate salt to keep the roads driveable until Friday.
However Acting County Manager David Fallon has said that if more snow should fall, salt will be an issue.
