| The current freezing conditions are expected to continue over the weekend and concerns are being raised about the salt supplies for the County Monaghan.
A Monaghan County Council spokeperson has stated that it has a salt stock pile for up to seven days of normal usage providing the situation at present does not deteriorate any further. The Council is in contact each day with the NRA regarding salt usage. However the NRA has not updated the local authority on the situation regarding restocking of salt supplies for the county. A spokesperson for the NRA says that the main priority is to keep National routes treated. In the event of local authorities running low on provisions a variety of measures are being considered including the re-allocation of supplies from other County Councils. |
