Monaghan County Council to consider fresh application for Aldi

Monaghan County Council is considering a planning application for a German discount store and leisure centre in Monaghan Town.

At a local authority meeting on Monday night it was stated that the development, if approved, would create a significant number of jobs. It's understood if Aldi gets the green light then a company known as "Flicks Recreational Centre" would open a centre in the town- this would be home to a multi-screen cinema, bowling alley and other amenities.

This is after the  original application for the Aldi was lodged in January of this year which was turned down.
Since then, a fresh application, which includes both the German discount retail store and the leisure centre, has been lodged with the local authrority. It is hoped to be built on  site at the  Business park at Cornacassa.
