Monaghan Volunteer Centre and Monaghan Community Forum are delighted to announce that their annual community showcase will take place on Thursday 30^th September in the Iontas Theatre, Castleblayney from 7 -9 p.m. This year this unique event (previously known as ‘Make a Show of Yourself’) is being organised as part of Active Citizenship Week which runs from the 27^th September to the 1^st October. Audrey Wilson (Monaghan Volunteer Centre) comments ‘The Community Showcase gives community and voluntary groups an opportunity to showcase the important work that they do in their communities. Groups are assigned a table on the night where they can display leaflets photographs or anything which publicises the work that they do. We encourage exhibitors to be to as creative as they like! This event provides an ideal opportunity for community groups to publicise their work, recruit volunteers, meet other groups and find out about funding opportunities. It is also wonderful way for members of the public to find out about volunteering opportunities and community work in their area’

A packed programme of entertainment on the night will be provided by variety of community organisations from around the County, including music from the Four Quotes (the Co. Monaghan Community Network Band), drama from Ballinode ICA, performances from Youth Work Ireland and special performance from Corduff Active Retirement Group.  Ciara McDonald(Monaghan Community Forum) states ‘Not only are we showcasing the work that community and voluntary organisations do in the county, we are also showcasing the talent that exists within the community sector. This year our programme is so diverse that there really is something for everyone.’
