The Leslie family, of the world famous Castle Leslie in Glaslough County Monaghan have revealed that they have unearthed a homemade horror movie made by the present owner Sammy (Samantha) Leslie’s Father Desmond Leslie who was a noted author particularly on the subject of U.F.O’s (unidentified flying objects).

Desmond Leslie was a keen follower of all things to do with U.F.O.’s and tracked alleged sightings all over the world.

The homemade film was shot on the Leslie estate by Desmond at an unknown date and was titled “Them and the Thing”. The films cast included well  known British astronomer Sir Patrick Moore and will be shown at the Irish Film Institute as part of its “Home Movie heritage day” on Saturday the 21^st of August next.

Although well renowned throughout Britain and Ireland Castle Leslie, originally built in the 17^th centuary, and the picaresque village of Glaslough hit the world headlines, and a financial jackpot, in 2002 when former Beatle Paul McCartney’s ill fated marriage to former model Heather Mills under the microscope of the worlds media took place in the Castle grounds under tight security.
