Conlan in Northern Secretary road improvement call
Cavan/Monaghan Dáil Deputy Seán Conlan has asked British Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Mr Owen Paterson MP, to use his influence with the northern authorities to secure investment for roads in the north which straddle the border.
Mr Paterson was attending a meeting of the Government Good Friday Agreement Committee of which Deputy Conlan is a member,  in Leinster House on Thursday last 2nd February.
Deputy Conlan said yesterday: “In the course of our discussions  which covered a wide range of topics,  I asked Mr Paterson to do all he could to bring about investment in roads in the north which straddle the border. I particularly impressed upon him the urgent need to upgrade northern sections of main cross-border roads including the Armagh to Monaghan,  Keady to Castleblayney, Keady to Ballybay, Crossmaglen to Carrickmacross and the Newtownhamilton to Castleblayney Roads in the interests of increasing cross-border trade and social interaction.”
