See the world differently with Development Perspectives…
Local NGO Development Perspectives is looking for energetic, enthusiastic people who are interested in learning more about Development issue to get involved in our 2012 Development Education programme. Participants must be willing to engage in some of the serious challenges facing our communities at a local and global level such as conflict, inequality, poverty, gender based violence and sustainability.
Development Perspectives work in partnership with organisations across Ireland, Europe, Asia and Africa in order to work effectively.  In the summer of 2011 a number of educational programmes and physical workcamps were held in Uganda and Tanzania. The workcamps gave Irish participants the opportunity to work within a local community on a project that was chosen as beneficial by the local people, in 2011 that included an environmental project in Zanzibar and a sustainable farming project in Uganda. A range of pre-departure workshops were facilitated in various locations across Ireland, to complement the overseas element of the programme. These workshops focus on areas such as human rights, trade, sustainability, peace and conflict, gender issues, HIV/AIDS and poverty.
Upon their return participants engaged in a number of initiatives in their local communities to share their experiences and to create positive change at home.
The programme will take place over 8 months, through three phases, two of which will take place in Ireland and one of which will include an overseas placement in Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. An edition of the programme will take place in the North East of the country along with two more in the North West and the South East of the country. We will be running this programme once again in 2012 and are welcoming applications from any interested parties. The closing date for applications is the 24th of February. For any further information or to get involved in the programme please call (087)7631412.
