No Water Shortages in County

Monaghan County Council has no problems regarding water supplies at the present time and therefore has no plans to restrict the usage of water. The local authority will continue to monitor the situation and advise consumers accordingly.

This information came in response to a query from Independent councillor Paudge Connolly who asked at yesterday’s meeting of Monaghan County Council if the local authority had any plans to restrict usage of water. Councillor Connolly said that his query came in view of the fact that several counties had reported severely depleted water supplies following a number of weeks of unusually low rainfall.

Cllr Connolly then enquired what plans were in place to ensure water supplies in the event of shortages. The response read that Monaghan County Council would issue a media release advising consumers of low water levels and to limit water usage to essential needs only. If water supplies continued to remain low following the appeal the local authority would introduce cut off periods where supplies would be shut down from 8pm until 8am the following morning in order to retain reservoir levels.
