Launch of Northwest Macra na Feirme Kings & Queens event 2012;
Good luck to Peter Hamill (Tydavnet Macra) and Deirdre Brogan (Newbliss Macra) who will be representing County Monaghan in the 5th Annual Northwest Macra na Feirme Kings and Queens event. This novel event is taking place this weekend (Saturday 21st January) in the Sligo Park Hotel and Leisure Club, Pearse Road, Sligo, Co. Sligo.
King and queen representatives from the North West Macra region and Ulster Young Farmers Club will be vying  to win the title of “Northwest King and Queen 2012”. Peter and Deirdre will be hoping to bring the title and the perpetual trophy back to Monaghan
Each representative will be paired into a “King and Queen” team and will complete a series of novel and fun tasks through the evening. The evening will commence with a tasty four course banquet, giving the King and Queen teams a chance to discuss “team tactics”. How much can they learn about each other over four courses?  How well can they complete the novel tasks under time pressure? Will sparks fly, stage fright set in or teams gel? The winning King and Queen team will be announced at midnight followed by music till late with DJ Nugent. The Master of ceremonies on the night will be none other than the National Talent competition finalists and Comedy duo Michael Keogh and James Lennon from Longford. Last year’s winner, Aishling McCarey (Tydavnet Club, Monaghan) and Shane Meehan (Mayo) will be attending to hand over their crowns.
Tickets for the evening cost a recession busting €25 which includes the banquet and entertainment for the night. Banquet tickets can be booked by contacting Catherine on 086 1973479 (Committee Secretary), early booking is advised.
