The Lodge at Castle Leslie Grabs Gold

Monaghan Hotel Wins Top Industry Award

THE LODGE AT CASTLE LESLIE, the luxurious four star hotel on the Castle Leslie Estate in Glaslough, Co Monaghan, has been awarded one of the Irish hospitality industry’s highest accolades, the prestigious Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Award for Customer Experience, sponsored by Fáilte Ireland.

Nestled on the sprawling Castle Leslie Estate, which is one of the few Irish castle estates still to be in the hands of its founding family, The Lodge beat off stiff competition from hundreds of hotels and restaurants across Ireland to win the coveted award at the 23rd Annual Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards on Monday night.

A sister property to the original Castle Leslie on the estate, which was settled by the Leslie family in the 1660s, The Lodge has been described as ‘a bastion for great Irish hospitality’ by members of the Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards Jury, who together travelled close to 20,000 kilometres across the island this summer to search for Ireland’s greatest hotels, restaurants and catering operations.

Organised by Hotel & Catering Review, the leading magazine for the Irish hospitality industry, the Gold Medal Awards are recognised as the industry's most rigorous and competitive independent awards programme. Now in their 23rd year, the Gold Medal Awards are judged by a panel of experienced independent industry practitioners who travelled thousands of kilometres across the island of Ireland over a period of four months this year to assess hundreds of hotel, restaurant and catering entrants in the 2011 Awards.
