Humphreys welcomes funding for Monaghan Swimming Pool
Fine Gael TD for Cavan Monaghan Heather Humphreys has welcomed the announcement today that Monaghan Swimming Pool is to benefit from a significant level of funding.
“I welcome the announcement by Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD that Monaghan swimming pool is to receive €158,000 in funding as part of the green swimming pool initiative.
“The aim of this funding is to help improve access to people with disabilities and also to make pools more energy efficient and less reliant on State support.
“This significant amount of funding will provide for the installation of new ramps, widening of doorways to allow wheelchair access, fitting hoists and providing purpose-built changing facilities.
“It is important that we have adequate recreational facilities in place for people with disabilities in the Monaghan area and this funding is most welcome in that respect.
“From a financial perspective, obviously swimming pools require a large amount of heat and this grant will help Monaghan swimming pool to become energy efficient, reduce their impact on the environment and also reduce costs for taxpayers.
“It is also important to point out that this grant will help to create and sustain jobs during the work stage,” concluded Deputy Humphreys.
