Council makes Free Smoke Alarms Available to Vulnerable Households
The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government has made funding available to Monaghan County Council to purchase smoke alarms for 210 homes. The alarms are available to ‘vulnerable’ households, which include people living alone, older people and people in private rented accommodation. Each home will receive two 10-year, self contained, battery operated, smoke alarms.
The alarms are self-contained and battery-operated, so installation consists merely of fixing the units to the ceiling.
Monaghan County Council would like to hear from community groups who have local knowledge of vulnerable households and are willing to distribute the alarms out to these households.
Individuals wishing to avail of alarms for their home may also contact the Council.
The contact person for this scheme is Carol Lambe, Office of Community & Enterprise. Phone 047 73725 or email clambe@monaghancoco.ie
