![]() B.E.S.T. Sports and Youth Development has just started their new
Academies in the Carrickmacross Phoenix centre and in Beech Hill
College, Monaghan town. The programme uses a player centred approach
where each child is encouraged to go beyond their current sporting
expectations. It has been a very busy year for B.E.S.T. Sports as they
have recently worked with numerous agencies promoting sport throughout
Monaghan and Dublin this summer and have developed very successful
club academies in Monaghan and Dublin.
![]() One of the major success stories has revolved around Ireland's captain
Robbie Keane's home club Fettacairn YFC in West Dublin. So far with
the help of B.E.S.T.'s coaching they have recruited over 120 new
players and developed 5 new teams. Fettacairn's underage coaching
director Shane Green commented " Working with Barry and his "B.E.S.T.
Sports" coaches has helped our players immensely with their
competitive technique and confidence. His coaches allow our managers
to assess the players while they take them for technique focused
training, thus giving our managers and our players unique learning
opportunities."
The weekly academies in Monaghan and Carrickmacross work by allowing
players already with local teams to get EXTRA training from UEFA
qualified coaches which they can then go back to their club and
implement in game scenarios. "Our aim is to help local clubs by
helping their players reach new heights in training and to have the
confidence to take that out on the field for their own local club. We
want to encourage players to join their local clubs at our academies
and to be more confident on the ball. We also provide clubs with
qualified coaches to help build up their own underage teams like with
Fettacairn YFC.
![]() The Carrickmacross Academy starts at 5.30pm every Tuesday and the
Monaghan Academy starts at 6.15 every Wednesday and is open to players
aged 4-13yrs. For more information for your club or your own sports
