Nuremore Golf Club members Martin Kiernan, John Kiernan, James Kiernan along with the Club Captain, Ken Beatty will compete in the All Ireland Final of the 2011 Musgrave Crumlin Hospital Club Challenge in the Algarve, Portugal (October 14th – 17th ) after their convincing win at the Ulster Final in Roscommon Golf Club last Thursday.
The three man team from Nuremore blew away the opposition with the best of the day score of 85 points in the rumble format (1 score first 6 / 2 scores second 6 / all 3 scores last 6) and will now compete against Elmgreen Golf Club, Dublin (Leinster Champions), Roscommon Golf Club (Connacht Champions) and yet to be decided Munster Champions for the coveted All Ireland title and pennant.
The title will be decided over 36 holes at Pinta Golf Club and Palmaris Golf Club over the October weekend and Nuremore will try to emulate the former Ulster winners Castleblaney Golf Club and Castle Hume Golf Club in bringing home the title.
All funds raised from this competition go directly to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin thanks to the generous support from the Musgrave Group. Now in its fourteen year the competition has raised over £1.35million for St. Anne’s Ward (dedicated burns unit) which was built by the company.
