![]() Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Education and Skills Brendan Smith TD has wished the 55,000 Leaving Cert students across the country the best of luck as they receive their results today(Wednesday, 17 August) and begin to make decisions about their future.
Deputy Smith commented, “After all that hard work and preparation, today is an exciting day for the thousands of students around the country awaiting their Leaving Cert results.
“While it’s natural to be nervous, it’s also important to remember that there are so many options open to students as they plan the next step in their lives. Each and every student can realise their potential and follow their chosen career paths, even if they are disappointed with the points they receive today.
“I am urging parents and other family members to remain as calm as possible over the coming days as the Central Applications Office issues third level offers. The students will need every support possible as they make important decisions about their future. The National Parents Council Post Primary has also set up a helpline this year which will provide independent advice to students and their families. They can be contacted on 1800 265 165 from 8 o’clock this morning.”
