The Muckno Mania Festival Committee has now officially confirmed that this year they have registered with Guinness World Records to break a world record for having the most people dressed up as cartoon characters.

Furthermore because it’s the 50th anniversary of the Flintstones and given that the Flintstones are colourful characters the organisers are asking local people to dress up as Flintstones on Friday, 16 July at 7pm and turn Castleblayney town into Bedrock! Willing participants are being asked to make their own costumes or source their own costumes online and should follow the description of the costumes that the characters appear in.

Further details on this event are available on the festival website www.mucknomania.ie and people can also follow Flint McGuinness on Facebook. As with the previous Smurf record an official Guinness World Record Adjudicator will be in attendance on the day.

Castleblayney Town came to a standstill in 2008 when the organisers of the popular Muckno Mania Festival were successful in breaking the then world record for having the most people dressed as Smurfs and were subsequently featured in the 2010 edition of the Guinness World Records Book. News of this novel event being planned as part of this year’s Muckno Mania Festival which will be held in the town between 15 and 18 July is already becoming a major talking point and is likely to attract national and international interest.
