A man in is 20's  died after he was seriously assaulted in the early hours of Saturday morning in Co. Monaghan.

The assault happened shortly after 5am on Saturday morning,  in Lisdoonan, Carrickmacross, in Co Monaghan.

The man, 
Gavin O'Connor from Kilmainhamwood, Kells, Co Meath died in Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda last night.sustained serious injuries , where he died last night.

A man in his late teen's - who was arrested in relation to the incident - remains in Garda custody this morning for questioning.

Conor McClelland of Cullentrabane, Laragh in Castleblaney was charged with assault causing serious harm.


A post mortem on the remains of the victim are due to take place later this afternoon.
