MONAGHAN STUDENTS WIN TEXACO CHILDREN'S ART COMPETITION

Six Monaghan students have won top prizes in this year’s 57th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

Leading the line-up is 7-year old Kerry Grimes from Scoil Naomh Éanna, Carrickmacross who won first prize in category E for her work entitled ‘Flower Power’.  She is pictured receiving her award from children’s author and illustrator Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick and Enda Riney, Country Chairman, Chevron (Ireland) Limited at a ceremony in Dublin recently.Texaco_Child_Artist_Saoirse_McMahon___Monaghan_

Other Monaghan winners, all of whom won Special Merit Awards are: Saoirse McMahon (6) from Scoil Naomh Éanna, Carrickmacross; Ryan Ingram (14) and David Wacks (14), both from Ballybay Community College; Jessica McCartney (12) from St. Brigid’s School, Carrickmacross and Michael Fryzlewicz (18) from St. Macartan’s College, Monaghan.

The Texaco Children’s Art Competition is the longest running sponsorship in the history of arts sponsoring in Ireland. A total of 278 students from Co.
