Junior Tidy Towns Inaugurated for National Spring Clean
Monaghan Tidy Towns members are delighted with the development of a junior squad of Tidy Towns volunteers in the town. Twenty five enthusiastic children gathered in Cuil Lorcain under the supervision of equally enthusiastic local residents for a clean up in and around the estate and the Old Armagh Road. The Tidy Towns Committee expresses its appreciation to the residents of Cuil Lorcain and the parents who supported the initiative. This is not the first time the children have been out tidying up their area and local residents are to be congratulated for developing and encouraging active citizenship in the children of the locality. Children of all ages gathered over fifteen bags of litter and expressed their disgust at the way people had littered their neighbourhood. The group was joined by Tidy Town’s volunteers and Cathaoirleach and Mayor of Monaghan Town, Robbie Gallagher on the day and the little litter vigilantes were well rewarded with minerals and crisps at the end of their clean-up. Many thanks to Vincent in Sam’s Bridge for the supplies! The group are looking forward to organising further Tidy Towns activities and more children (and parents) are very welcome.
