Our second AGM took place on 13th April in Castleblayney Enterprise Centre and was great to see parents especially new faces turn up to the meeting and show their support for the club. Gerry Callan, Chairperson, reported that it had been an extremely busy year for the club. The U8 and U10’s took part in the Monaghan Development league while the U12 and U14 teams competed in the newly formed Cavan Monaghan League and are still doing extremely well. The Aviva trip, the Charity Flintstone match, the Christmas Table quiz were just some of the highs of the year. He thanked the committee for their outstanding commitment and hard work. He thanked all the parents who carried their sons and daughters back and forth for training and matches and for supporting us in all of our fundraising activities - without their support Blayney Rovers would not be as successful as it is. Everyone involved in the club should be very proud of what has been achieved so far. Four members are currently participating in The Emerging Talent programme and 5 members have just completed an After Schools programme. These programmes give them an opportunity to train and play with the most talented players and coaches in their area. Gerry thanked each of the coaches for the time and effort they put into the club and their dedication to coaching. This was particularly evident by all the extra courses they had completed this past year and their continued interest in advancing their coaching skills. He also thanked those that represented the club at different league meetings both in Monaghan and Cavan and those that attended Town Council and solicitor meetings. Negotiations with the Town Council over the proposed playing field in Drumillard are nearly completed and the lease should hopefully be signed in the next few weeks. Gerry encouraged anyone that wanted to get involved in this very exciting time for the club to contact any one the coaches or committee members. Executive Officers elected on the night were: Chairperson Gerry Callan, Vice Chairperson Eddie Noakes, Secretary Annette Hanley; Treasurer Jane McEleavey; Children’s Welfare Officer Mairead Casey. A number of parents were elected onto the existing committee and the first meeting of the newly elected committee will already have taken place at time of print. REGISTRATION NIGHT Our registration night takes place on Wednesday next 27th April in the Enterprise Centre from 7-9pm. We encourage all players interested in playing football this coming season, (both in the Monaghan Development League for U8 and U10’s and also for the Cavan/Monaghan competitive league for the older players) to register on the night to avoid disappointment. In order to facilitate as many players as possible in the coming season, it is extremely important that we know how many numbers we have in the different age groups as soon as possible. Once we know the numbers, we can begin to plan for the coming season. TRAINING The U8’s resumed last week and the good weather certainly seemed to bring the children out. All are eager to get back to training and are looking forward to their first match. Training takes place on Our Lady’s astro on Saturday’s from 6.15 – 7.15pm. Please ensure that your child brings a drink, wears shin guards and €3. Our U10’s training is continuing with numbers growing every week. Training is at the same time as U8 i.e. Saturday 6.15pm |
