Has he got the Personality??? Kilkenny Macra will host the annual Mr. Personality competition in the Springhill Court Hotel, Kilkenny this weekend. This is a prestigious event in the Macra calendar with males the length and breadth of the country bidding to become Mr. Personality 2011!!! Over the past number of years many Monaghan men fought hard to bring the title home to the drumlin hills but were unsuccessful. We have high hopes for this years contestant, Paul Mc Donald from the Tydavnet club. Paul is an active Macra man and currently sits as an NCR on Macra’s National Council. Over the years, it could be said that Paul would do anything in the name of Macra…recently he took on the role of the Posh Spice in Superstar ’11. Here at Monaghan Macra we have high hopes for Paul this weekend. We wish him the best of luck and to all those travelling with him, have a great weekend!
New President. With a new government in place in Leinster house it’s only right that Macra should have its day in the sun too. With Micheal Gowing’s term as Macra president coming to an end at the AGM in May, those in the running for his job have spent the past few months travelling around Ireland canvasing . each had their own policies to put forward but it was clear that all three had one goal, creating a bright future for Macra. Tuesday 4th April was ‘D’ day with votes being counted at Macra headquarters in the National Farm centre. It soon emerged that Alan Jagoe, a cork farmer, was to be the future president of Macra. We look forward to working with Alan in the coming years and congratulate Tommy Dolan and Dara Kavanagh on their campaigns. All three were candidates and we here in Monaghan would have been proud to work with any of them. Also on Tuesday, Kieran O’ Dowd from Sligo received enough votes to become vice president of the North West region. Congratulations to Kieran and thanks to John Kenny who has worked hard for us here in the North-West over the past two years. The president and vice-presidents will be inaugurated at the forthcoming agm in Cavan on May 7th. The event will take place in the Cavan Crystal Hotel with plenty of entertainment into the early hours. Other news: FBD Young Farmer of the Year is underway.
