The lifesize Carrara Marble Sculpture located in the Temple at Dartrey, Rockcorry is due to be restored this year and the hunt is on to locate missing pieces that may have been removed as souvenirs over the past years, to date several items have been returned. This Temple is a very important part of our Architectural Heritage and it is important that the original material is recovered to complement the Monument. The missing parts are hands, arms, feet, parts of the angel’s wings and a head. It is hoped that this building will be a major addition to our Tourism & Heritage Industry as it was designed by a world famous architect James Wyatt (1746-1813) And the sculpture was carved by Joseph Wilton (1722-1803) who was a founding member of the academy of Sculptures.
