‘Blackwater 10K Returns’ 4th Blackwater 10K on Sunday 15th May 2011. Following the overwhelming success of the last 3 years local running clubs and all local athletic enthusiasts look forward to hosting an event that brings to life the natural splendour found in Rossmore Forest Park, Co Monaghan. The course beginning with registration, changing and other facilities at the grounds of Monaghan United FC, which all the committee are grateful for their support, is set up to accommodate all levels of fitness, enjoy a casual stroll or for the more ambitious the full 10K or 3K circuit, walk or run the choice will be yours. Entry forms will be available on a number of websites www.monaghansports.ie and from a number of local businesses; more details later. A new departure for the running enthusiasts is the introduction of chipped timing for the event. Corporate groups are encouraged to enter teams or three or more with some special prises for the best placed on the day. There are a few more changes, which we will reveal over the next couple of weeks, watch for the notes in your local northern standard. Proceeds from this event are in aid of Monaghan Hospice & Marie Curie Cancer Care. As is always the case in generating funds for charity we the organising committee would welcome and appreciate all financial assistance. More details of all contacts and race route, maps, etc will emerge over the next few weeks. Meetings of the organising committee will continue on Tuesday nights in the Squealing Pig, Diamond Monaghan, all interested parties’ welcome. Volunteers will be required to help with registration, marshalling, refreshments, raising awareness, bringing new ideas and developing this very successful event.
