![]() FPM Chartered Accountants is twenty years in business and has
celebrated by hosting an informal family friendly breakfast for staff,
friends, business and media at its office in Newry.
Founded by Feargal McCormack, managing partner on August 20, 1991, FPM
Chartered Accountants has grown to become one of the most recognised
businesses North and South for providing accountancy and business
consultancy services not only to SME’s but also to international firms
and the public sector.
From humble beginnings twenty years ago Feargal set up FPM Chartered
Accountants as principal along with a part-time secretary, located at
98 Hill Street in Newry. Within two years, the business became the
first chartered accountancy practice in Ireland to be awarded the
Quality Accreditation ISO 9001.
Within four years, FPM Chartered Accountants achieved Investor in
People status and within fifteen years, FPM had four office locations
across Ireland and the UK. The business has grown on average by 20%
per annum without acquisition which is perhaps unique across Ireland,
the UK and even Europe.
![]() Today, FPM now employs over 70 staff, 8 of whom are equity partners.
Clients span all sectors and areas of specialisation are audit,
accounting, tax, business advisory, corporate restructuring and
insolvency.
Upwards on 1,000 guests attended the 20th anniversary of FPM Chartered
Accountants and received a warm reception. Guests included Cllr.
Charlie Casey, mayor of Newry and Mourne District, Dr. Rory O’Hanlon,
former TD and ceann comhairle, Danny Kennedy MLA, Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development NI, John Hannaway, president of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and Sir Bruce Robinson,
head of the Civil Service NI.
Addressing guests in his welcoming speech, Feargal McCormack, managing
partner stated that FPM’s life journey to date had been very
challenging, but exciting and rewarding. He recognised the challenging
times we now find ourselves in and said we need to remain positive,
have belief and draw on all resources available.
“In FPM’s history we have witnessed challenging times, but none like
what we face now,” said Feargal McCormack, managing partner. “We must
be resilient as we move forward and begin to try to channel our way
out of recession and move from surviving to thriving. FPM is here to
serve and with recession comes opportunities. We will endeavour to
help our clients on their journeys and hopefully continue to grow as
they grow.”
FPM Chartered Accountants has won numerous prestigious work place and
employment awards over the years and invests heavily in retaining its
staff and attracting new staff. In the short to long term, FPM
Chartered Accountants intends to expand its business into new regions
and become an employer of choice and serve its clients for many more
