Ten finalists will be chosen to take to the stage where one lucky lady will walk away with a €5,000 voucher and the title of ‘Best Dressed Lady’. White or cream has been installed as the favourite dress colour at 7/2, but some punters have been putting their bets on a more summery yellow look. Pink was the most popular colour last year and is the second favourite to say on trend at 9/2. A hat or headpiece appears to be an essential accessory for those looking to be crowned Marshes Best Dressed Lady and it’s 1/16 with the Dundalk based firm that the winner will be wearing one. A girl under 25 winning the top prize is 6/4 while brunettes have beaten the blondes in the betting at 5/4 to be the winning hair colour. “Ladies will be pulling out all the stops for the Dundalk races on July 12th and many have been having a punt on our Best Dressed Lady odds,” said Nicola McGeady, Boylesports PR spokesperson. “Cream has been the most popular colour but we have also seen some money favouring the brighter option of yellow; no matter what the winning colour is, the fashion is expected to be outstanding!” Horse racing will commence at 2.30pm with a 7-race horse card and greyhound racing will commence at 7.30pm. Tickets are not required for this Dual Race Day and doors open at 12.30pm.
