Renewed Call for Care on Farms

IFA President John Bryan has this week extended his condolences to all farm families that had lost a family member tragically through a farm accident, and once again called on all farm families to treat safety as an absolute priority every hour of every day.

“The deaths in recent weeks highlight that farming is a dangerous occupation and that farmers must be extra vigilant particularly over the busy summer months. Fatigue, trying to save time and miscommunication are among the leading human factors that contribute to farm-related injuries”, said Mr. Bryan.

He stated that prioritising health and safety is one of the most important decisions on the farm. He encouraged farmers to undertake their own farm risk assessment and produce a farm safety statement as it is time well spent and will help avoid the torment that follows a farm accident.
