IFA CALLS FOR PAYMENT OF OUTSTANDING MONIES UNDER THE SHEEP GRASSLAND SCHEME
Sunday, 08 May 2011 15:13

Monaghan IFA  Sheep Committee Chairman Eamon Markey has called for the
immediate payout of the €10/ewe sheep grassland payment to the 2000 sheep
farmers still awaiting their 2010 payments.

Eamon Markey said it is totally unacceptable that 2000 sheep farmers have
still not been paid under the scheme.  He said “the payment relates to money
owed since 2010.  Payments were meant to be made in December 2010 but were
delayed until February, when over 26,000 farmers were paid.  It is now May
and 2000 producers are still awaiting payment.”

Eamon Markey called on the Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, to
release the hold up on payments immediately to these 2000 sheep farmers.
